Soil Your Undies

Hey Canada, it’s time to Soil Your Undies… in the name of soil conservation

Who doesn’t like playing in the dirt? The Soil Conservation Council of Canada sure does and encourages the Canadian public to do so as well in honour of National Soil Conservation Week (April 18-24, 2021).

Anyone can take part! All you need is a new pair of white 100% cotton briefs, a shovel, a marker flag, and a patch of soil to bury your undies. Once you have all that, follow the instructions below and be sure to share your experiences with your social networks.

This year we encourage you to make this an at-home family project due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  If you have a lawn, garden, flower bed, or planted pot you can still have fun and learn about the living soil.  In lager areas like gardens, you can still use white cotton underwear as shown in our instructional video.  If you are using a smaller space like a flower pot, cut strips from those white undies or a t-shirt and place them in the pot.  It will still work!

Don’t forget to use #SoilYourUndies so we can see it too!
